TENANT
 
We suggest that if you have any issue of concern you would like to bring up with your landlord, it is wise to communicate in writing, sent certified mail, and keep copies for your records. 
 
FINANCIAL LITERACY
 
Many families find themselves in a homeless situation because of financial money aspect of homelessness. We hold classes for client that cannot balance a budget or how to repair their credit and open bank account provide issue on financial independent.
 
SHELTER HOMELESS WISH LIST
 
There are many needs for men, women and children who are homeless apart from housing and food. Below are some of the ways in which you can help us meet these needs.

ABOUT SHELTER FOR HOMELESS
 
Homeless person and family on the street have some kind of story to tell… those who are too proud to even let know that they need help…mothers with children, those that used to have job but cut in corporate down sizing.
 
  • Provide housing to 1366 people each year in Emergency Transitional and Low Income Permanent Housing totaling 385 people.
  • Provide 2,560 hrs. of educational and vocational sessions.
  • Cost per day to house person in any of the housing units is $8.25 a day.
  • Provide 2,506 hrs. of one one person counseling.
  • 25 volunteer helped with projects, programs, children activities and fundraising and accumulated hours 12,500 hrs. of services for the year. The required minimum wage of $6.75 X 12,500 hrs. volunteering, $84,375.
 
We provide all these services at no cost to those who are seeking shelter for the homeless “step to success program”.
 
Your financial support is needed for our program to flourish to success. We are keeping our cost as low as 10%.
 
OUR MISSION
 
To provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing, job training for homeless and low income families who are interested to work hard in order to improve their lives and become self-supporting member of our community.
 
THE BEGINNING
 
The shelter for the homeless was founded 2001 by Gabriel F. Oladeinde as a result of people living on streets, local parks and bus stops in Prince George’s County. He started by delivering food, blankets and clothing to people in need and spread his mission by referring homeless people in need to existing shelters and transporting them.
 
HOUSING COUNSELING
 
The difference between housing stability and homelessness can be resolved on how much we know about our lease or mortgage document, and how well we can advocate for ourself in negotiating with landlords and lenders. These program offer several types of housing counseling.
 
TENANT COUNSELING
 
We provide information to tenant in Prince George’s County, Maryland and Oklahoma regarding rights and responsibilities according to local landlord/ tenant laws. If you are unable to find information call (240) 421-6551. Counselors are available from monday, wednesday and thursday from 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm.
